[English]: Along with number 60 in the Highgrade catalogue there's a new producer team, joining the Highgrade posse: Markus Schatz who scored so far with releases together with Tom Clark for Highgrade and by himself on labels like Opossum and Freizeitglauben. He worked out this release with Brett Longman (a.k.a. Alix Roy) from Paris, known from one of France's most prolific labels Logistic Rec. With "Dope on Plastic" both start a dub and percussion roller-coaster-ride: the stripped down structure in the beginning unfolds seamlessly to a wildly grooving dub-inferno. Similarly funky ""Push it"" continues this direction: dodgy FM-sounds meet weird synth bleeps plus a whole load of rhythm - the trackname is to be taken literally here! On the flip-side Schatz & Longman in "Running" are adding some fine dubby ingredients to there rhythm patterns, next exit Detroit, one might say. Moody without being cheesy, that's how we like it. "Good Vibes" is zigzagging elegantly, with deep pulsating melodies worked together with an uplifting groove to a fast-paced and atmospheric track.
[German]: Mit der Nummer 60 im Releasekatalog stellt sich ein neues Producer-Team in der Highgrade-Mannschaft vor: Markus Schatz, bislang positiv mit Releases mit Tom Clark zusammen für Highgrade und solo auf Opossum und Freizeitglauben aufgefallen. Dazu gesellt sich der Pariser Brett Longman, a.k.a. Alix Roy - auch kein Unbekannter, bislang vor allem auf dem französischen Vorzeige-Label Logistic Rec. aktiv. Mit "Dope on Plastic" starten die beiden eine Dub und Percussion- Achterbahnfahrt. Los geht's mit einem scheinbar minimalen Grundgerüst aus dem dann sehr schnell ein wild groovendes Dub Inferno wird. Ähnlich treibend geht's mit "Push it" funky weiter - vertrackte FM-Sounds treffen auf verschroben zirpende Synthsounds, dazu gibt es Rhythmus satt - hier ist der Trackname wörtlich zu nehmen! Auf der Flip garnieren Schatz & Longman in "Running" ihre ausgefeilten Rhythmus-Pattern mit ein paar feinen Zutaten aus der Dubkiste - nächste Ausfahrt Detroit, möchte man da sagen. Moody, aber nicht cheesy - so soll es sein. "Good Vibe" schlägt dann elegant einen Haken, deep pulsierende Melodien verschmelzen mit einem upliftendem Groove zu einem temporeichen und atmosphärischem Track. |
