Another new release from Earth Mantra, and another new artist to welcome to our humble netlabel, this time ambient electronic musician Shane Morris, with a beautiful pair of longform tracks called "Magnetosphere". Originally performed live on July 10, 2009 on Space Port Zero Nine, Shane’s ambient space music net radio program at electro-music.com, this album was a live improvisational performance done continuously in one take, with no overdubs or edits after the fact. What you hear in this release is exactly what the audience heard that evening. And what a performance it was. The music ranges from lush light ambience to electronic drone to abstract textural ambience, but always with Shane's trademark attention to detail and his effortless performance emotion. Indeed, we at Earth Mantra are very familiar with the high art of live ambient improvisational performance, and we can say with confidence that Shane is among the best we have ever heard. Simply jaw-dropping music. This is only the first release by Shane Morris on Earth Mantra, but we are very much hoping there will be many more in the future. For with "Magnetosphere", we think he has released one of the finest live ambient performances we have heard in a very long time. Highly recommended.
