Pedro Aguiar is a 25 years old youngster and just started releasing music in 2011. Nevertheless, his new tracks – out now on Broque – are full of history. On his “breakfast in bali” EP, the Lisbon-based musician marries dreamy club tracks full of dub reverbs and vocoderised vocals (“breakfast in bali” club mix, “you should have known”) with floating ambient dub (such as “the voices in my head”, “out into space” mix of the title track). Everything is neatly held together by Pedro’s sense for atmosphere and melodies which defines his subtle yet distinctive trademark sound. Long-standing friend of the Broque family Max Cavalerra adds another dimension to the EP by converting “you should have known” into a more straight-forward techno tune which still maintains its original melodic vibe. We at Broque are very glad about having discovered such an exceptional talent and are convinced that this won’t be the last time you have heard about Pedro.
