Denver based producer and sound artist offthesky (aka Jason Corder) returns to basic_sounds with stationaryrace, recorded live March 17, 2012 at Cherryvale Studios near Boulder, Colorado. basic_sounds netlabel artist Radere and experimental artist Cody Yantis were also included on the bill.
Using electric guitar, Moog MG-1, custom Reaktor ensembles, and field recordings, offthesky creates a long-format twenty-minute soundscape full of grandeur luscious widescreen waves, majestic chords, hypnotic pulses and crackling warmth for and overall breathtaking ambient journey. offthesky describes the album title as a morpheme with a double meaning, “the human race evolving ever so slowly and seemingly not at all, or an oxymoron of a physical foot race where it's participants are frozen.” stationaryrace provides a moment of escape where standing still never felt so compelling.
