Madrid based dub techno producer and Kraftmann Records label owner Devennue delivers a sublime four track EP for basic_sounds called Forms, including one remix by proclaimed dub techno aficionado, Overcast Sound. The compositions on Forms are different yet combine a common thread of continuity. Devennue thrives to demonstrate how concepts can be interrupted in different ways.
The opening track “Thearforms,” is a quiet meditative ambient soundscape that subtly introduces tranquil elements to float the listener along. Devennue switches pace with “Underforms” an ambient dub journey combined with tension building organic percussion sounds, ultimately creating a more anxious composition. “Subforms,” the third number is saturated with pads and soft distant strings that roll-out into a slow, bass groove that slowly dissolves into idyllic airy landscape. Overcast Sound closes the release with a remix of “Underforms.” Michael Pettit transforms the original work by producing something ready to make you move on the dancefloor.
